Becoming a member of the parthenon of our favourite homes-as-antiques-shops (see: Nomibis; Les Pénates Reims) is Objekts, housed in an 1840s farmhouse in Breslau, Ontario.
“On a chilly February morning in 2021, I went to purchase antiques on this farmhouse,” says proprietor—and home-owner—Atta Gaffar. “I’m a software program engineer by occupation, however antiques have been my ardour for the final 10 years. I fell in love with the plaster partitions peeking behind the ripping wallpaper and the cathedral ceiling of the stone constructing.” By the point he pulled out of the driveway, he says, “I used to be calling my realtor for advise on shopping for this property.”
Atta and his spouse, Alia Javaid, determined to purchase the farmhouse’s 5 buildings—barn, stone barn, home, summer season kitchen, and root cellar—as their dwelling in addition to an area to show and promote antiques. “It couldn’t have been a greater determination as a result of it enormously helped us and our 4 daughters throughout the pandemic,” Atta says. “Later that 12 months, I misplaced my full-time job.
